Zhao Cong is a leading Pipa soloist of China National Traditional Orchestra, a
member of Chinese Musicians Association and a member of Chinese Folk
Orchestra Society. Now she is one of the most excellent and famous traditional
musicians in the Chinese music world.

Born from musicians’ family, Zhao cong started learning Pipa at young age. After
the graduation from China Central Conservatory of Music she has started her
world performances tour accompanied with the National traditional orchestra in
more than twenty coutries on differents continents. Lincoln Center, Carnegie Hall,
Barbican Centre, Théâtre des Champs-Élysées, Sapporo Concert Hall, Odium of
Herodes Attius, Concertgebouw of Amsterdam, Grand Theatre of St. Petersburg
and many other great music centers in the world echoed her pipa sound, more
than ten presidents have heard her music in person. Her personal Pipa Album
<Sound of China > was published by Universal Music Group, which was the first
Chinese traditional instrumental music album in the history of UMG Group and it
has been collected by Chinese National Library and American national Library.
On May 2013, Zhao Cong’s personal concert was held in the China National
Theatre,the concert was a great success with outstanding performance of Zhao
Cong and a creative new concept in stage design and best avant-gard composers’
new works.

The Guardian commented: Zhao Cong’s perfect performance promises Chinese
New national music. Australian Prime Minister Kevin Rud once said: “your music
is so exciting that I must stand up to listen to it……”Jeff Rona, Grammy Music
Awards Jury said “Sound of China is the most beautiful Chinese traditional music
album I ever heard.” Seoul Daily commented: Zhao Cong is the “diplomat of
music”. Danny, the director of International Department of Universal Music
Group said: “Zhao Cong is the musician persistently walking between the ancient
and the modern.” Zhao Cong has been devoted to the inheritance, development,
promotion and innovation of the national traditional music. She worked hard and
made great contributions to Pipa studies and performances.
