KATYE LEONARD is a graduate of California State University, Stanislaus and
holds a Bachelor of Music degree in both Flute Performance and Music Education.  
As an undergraduate, Ms. Leonard enjoyed performing classical flute in the CSUS
Wind Ensemble and Chamber Orchestra, as well as flute and alto saxophone in the
CSUS Jazz Ensemble and Combos, including the Latin Jazz Ensemble.  

From 2005-2010 Ms. Leonard has instructed flute and Beginning Jazz
Improvisation electives in several summer music camps, including Summer Music at
Stanislaus and Silver Lake Band Camp.  Ms. Leonard is a member of Sigma Alpha
Iota, an international women’s music fraternity and has led her chapter in multiple
community service projects related in music and education.

In the Modesto Symphony Orchestra 2010-2011 Season, Ms. Leonard served as
the Youth Orchestra Manager and Education Coordinator where she regularly
scheduled and hosted the MSO’s interactive Instrument Petting Zoo and taught
weekly music classes at El Vista Elementary school utilizing the innovative Groovy
Music Composition software developed by Sibelius.

Ms. Leonard served as assistant group leader to Modesto Symphony Assistant
Music Director, Ming Luke in coordinating the June 2012 Youth Orchestra Concert
Tour of Central Europe. Ms. Leonard performed flute with the youth orchestra in
Salzburg, Vienna, and Prague.

Currently, Ms. Leonard continues her involvement with the Modesto Symphony
Orchestra as the Director of Education, Youth Orchestra Manager, and Wind
Ensemble Conductor. In addition, she is enjoying her second year as a music
teacher at Emilie J. Ross Middle School and Hughson High School.
